How many YouTube Ad Placements do I need?
Hey, what’s up everybody. Justin Sardi from tubesift.com here, and today we’re going to be answering an FAQ or a frequently asked question that I always get. And that is how many placements do I need when I’m running placement targeting with YouTube ads? Now first things first, we all know that placement targeting is one of the most effective ways that you can target your audience, because it literally lets you put your video ad in front of your ideal prospect at the exact moment they’re searching for what you have to offer or information on the topic that you are going to be talking about. So that’s why the placement targeting’s so effective and you can choose individual videos to put your ads in front of. So people always ask me, how many placements are ideal or how many do I need? And that’s what we’re going to be talking about today.
Now, as far as how many placements you should have in your campaign, really, there’s no set rule. I’ve seen people have amazing campaigns with one video placement and I’ve seen people have amazing campaigns and results with thousands of video placements. Now, the one thing to keep in mind is that with placement targeting, you’re only going to get views to your videos when somebody is actually watching the video you’re targeting. So you need to make sure that your video that you’re targeting is actually getting traffic. So if you’re targeting a bunch of old videos that aren’t getting any views, well then your ad’s never going to show. But if you’re targeting relevant videos that show up for relevant search terms, then you’re going to get a lot of views and you don’t need quite as many videos, right?
Find Trending YouTube Videos
So one suggestion that we got from somebody in one of our Facebook groups, which is a great suggestion, is they turn on the trending videos feature in tubesift and set it to videos that have got 10 views in the past say, 30 days. So you know those videos are getting at least a little bit of traffic. Now that works extremely well, but you don’t have to do that.
Finding Placements Using Keywords
So as far as how many videos to target and finding the videos that you should be targeting, we actually have an awesome training. It’s all about finding ideal placements using keywords. And we’ll link to that below this video. And you can tell us where to send that training, but it breaks down how we go about finding effective, relevant keywords and using those to find placements. For example, and I use this in the training, if you’re trying to target people, maybe you’re selling a coffee roasting product, right? You might want to search for keywords like DIY coffee roasting. You also might want to search for roasting coffee beans at home. You also might want to search for roast your own coffee beans or something along those lines.
All of those three keywords are tightly knit, highly relevant to your audience, and they’re going to give you highly relevant videos. And that’s ultimately what you want to be shooting for when it comes to placement targeting. You can get as many videos as you want, but you don’t want a bunch of non-relevant videos. You want highly targeted videos that are all around that same kind of keyword search that your audience might be searching for. So that basically sums up how many placements you want. Like I said, it doesn’t really matter. You just want to make sure that those videos are getting views and you can do that with the trending videos feature in tubesift. And obviously the more the better, however you want these videos to be relevant. So you can have thousands of videos, but you do want them to get relevant or be relevant.
Find Videos with High View Counts
And you got to remember that as you go down the search results, a lot of people aren’t going to be scrolling 20 pages down through YouTube search results to find a video. So you want to find those videos that are actually getting views, meaning they show up at the top of the search results. So usually when I’m using tubesift, I’ll throw in maybe the top 50 videos for each keyword and throw in a few different searches to get all of those videos, then put them in a placement list and then use those.
So hopefully that was helpful as far as how many placements you should be targeting. We always have our Facebook group you can jump into, and we’ll link to that below this as well. It’s a free group. You can ask all your questions. We can help you out there, share relevant links. And if you did like this video, please give us that thumbs up on YouTube, subscribe to our YouTube channel and definitely check out the training on how to find relevant keywords for your placements. So that’s it for me on this one. I’ll see you on the next one. Bye for now.
